LINIE is the oldest aquavit brand in the world. It all started back in 1805, when the Norwegian trade family, Lysholm, shipped potato aquavit to the East Indies. Here people were totally uninterested in buying it, so the aquavit was sailed back to Norway. On its arrival in 1807, it was discovered that the sea voyage had vastly improved the taste.

Since that day, every drop of LINIE has been sent on a sea journey across the world to mature, crossing the Equator twice.

From earth to bottle

Grown, produced and

distilled up North

LINIE Aquavit has been produced in Norway using the same recipe since 1821. It’s distilled from potatoes and then placed in a pot still with a blend of herbs and spices to develop into a fine clear aquavit.

After its distillation, LINIE Aquavit is placed in sherry oak casks, previously used to mature sherry. The remains of the sherry provide the aquavit with a golden colour and subtle sweetness, whereas the oak adds

hints of vanilla and wood.

The light days and cold nights of the Nordic summer produce herbs and spices with extra flavour, contributing to LINIE’s characteristic taste. Caraway is one of the aquavit’s most important spices.
